Chuck was a 1968 graduate of Union High School. Right after graduation Chuck joined the United States Army and proudly served his country until 1971. After his honorable discharge he work in custodial and grounds maintenance for Grand Rapids Public Schools for 39 years. He was strong in his faith and an active member of Fifth Reformed Church for the last 10 years. Chuck was a coach for special Olympics basketball and loved sharing his love for sports. Chuck was a sports fanatic! His favorite teams were the University of Michigan, the Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Lions. If there was ever a game on TV you could always guarantee he would watch. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, watching westerns, and cooking on the grill. As much passion as he had for his hobbies, nothing compared to the loved he had for his family. Chuck was a devoted husband, father, and papa. He adored his children and spending time with his grandchildren out-weighted any other pastime. He would never miss an opportunity to go a cheer on his grandchildren at all of their events. He always said, "Put God first, family second, everyone else, and then yourself". Chuck was a selfless man who would do anything he could for others. He loved to laugh and always knew how to make you smile. His warm spirit and caring nature will be missed by all who knew him.
