Betty Lou Dewey (Tootie), aged 81, has gone home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 26, 2014. Tootie was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Mansfield, Sisters Barbara VanWoerkom and Kathleen Muller and Brother Ralph Muller. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Ronald G. Dewey. She will continue to live in the hearts of her children, Josephine Rose Mansfield (Cassondra Osborn), Richard Mansfield, Marcia (Kevin) Bateman, Laura (Dan) Sullivan, Margie (Bill) VanderMaas. She was blessed with many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Stepdaughters Barb and Cheryl. Brother, Harry DeGlopper, as well as special loved ones, Harold Nash, Ray Eby, Nancy Dewey, Mary Hillman and Mary Muhammad. Tootie enjoyed a life filled with family and friends whom she cherished. Her early years were spent raising her family. After the death of her first husband she began working full-time at Meijer. After retiring from Meijer she focused on her grandchildren. Tootie had a very generous nature, she was good at listening to others and was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved music of all kinds and feeling the sunshine on her face. Her coffee pot was always full and she would always insist on feeding anyone who graced her home. She loved cooking and preparing big meals and she was thankful that she could be home this Christmas. Her parting gift was the big meal she prepared and enjoyed with her loved ones and the fellowship she enjoyed on Christmas day. Tootie will be greatly missed by all the people who knew her for her spunk, tenacity and compassion. We know that this is not really “good-bye” but “farewell” for we will see you again Mom, and Grandma! We love you and we look forward to that day. Thank you for all the memories! Visitation will be held on Monday evening, December 29 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Open Door Outreach Ministries (441 Knapp NE, Grand Rapids 49505) and the Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30 at 11:00 am at Open Door Outreach Ministries, Pastor Sarah Lawson officiating. A brief burial service will follow at Fairplains Cemetery.
