Alden L. "Pete" Peterson

Alden L. “Pete” Peterson aged 76 of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 11, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Alden and Janet, brother Roy and mother-in-law Marian L. Lukso. Pete will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years, Norma, brother Thomas (Rosie) Peterson, son Lloyd (Susan) Peterson, daughter Amy Peterson (Mark Oemke), daughter Aby (Jay) Garvey, step-daughter Tracey Lynne Ryon, 11 grandchildren, father-in-law J. Joseph Lukso, 4 brother-in-laws, 1 sister-in-law, his first wife Suzanna Peterson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He proudly served with the U.S. Navy. Pete was a graduate of Michigan State University and had a passion for anything green. He was an avid skeet shooter and golfer who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was 76 years young and lived, loved and enjoyed life. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at New Community Church 2340 Dean Lake Ave NE with Rev Mark VanderMeer officiating. Following the service a procession will take place to Fairplains Cemetery for burial and Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Friends of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, United States Deputy Association, American Cancer Society or Spectrum Health Hospice.
