Age 92. Of Grand Prairie, Texas. Bob was born on a farm in Florence Hill, Texas, May 10, 1923 to Andrew Taylor Roberts and Mary Lee Warren Roberts. The family, which included his mother and two brothers, Wayne William Roberts, and Kenneth Taylor Roberts, moved to Grand Prairie, Texas after his father died in 1935. Bob was graduated from Grand Prairie High School where he lettered three years in Football & Basketball. After school and weekends, he worked at the school gym, Bagdad Supper Club, Luton’s Café & A&P Grocery Store.
Bob joined the US Army Air Force in 1943 and was sent to Indie, Burma, & China where he served on active duty from 1943 through 1945. After flying home on the “Globester,” he worked at Hensley Field, Sears and Roebucks and owned & operated a “Beer Joint” in Ft. Worth for five years.
Later, Bob enjoyed a successful & rewarding career for forty five years selling carpet pad for two companies, Allen Industries of Detroit, MI., and Bondafoam, Inc. Soon after officially retiring from the carpet pad business, he worked fourteen years for Lone Star Race Track.
Bob was married in 1962 to Virginia King of Texarkana. They had two sons, Duke King Roberts and Douglas Warren Roberts, now deceased. He is survived by his grandson and wife, Dustin Warren Roberts and Amber Roberts, great grandson, Dade Warren Roberts, and daughter-in-law, Sharlyn Roberts.
Grave side services will be Friday November 6, 2015 at Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie.
