Born in the heart of Houston, Texas, on September 14, 1934, to Elenor and D.C. Hill, Loraine Wilson journeyed to eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and family unity.
The winds of change carried young Loraine and her family to various parts of the country, from Arkansas to St. Louis and eventually to the bustling streets of Chicago. It was here she enriched the halls of Phillips High School and Englewood High School with her vibrant spirit.
Loraine found love with Frank Wilson, and their bond, spanning over four decades, bore testament to the kind of commitment and love that fairy tales are made of. Even though Frank preceded her in death, their love story remains timeless and is evident in their children's lives and the home they built together. They lovingly raised Blair, Toni, Freddie, Susan, Karen, Earl, Frances, Sondra, Frank III, and Kevin together. Tragically, Blair, Frances, Earl, and Frank have reunited with their parents in the heavens above.
Loraine's career as a daycare director was not just a profession but a calling. The sparkle in her eye when she was around children was unmistakable. With boundless energy, love, and care, she shaped many young lives, making a lasting impact on all she encountered.
Apart from her professional endeavors, Loraine was a woman of many passions. She found solace in the pages of a good book and nurtured life in her garden. Her hands, always busy, cultivated not just plants but also the bonds of family and friendship. Loraine's love for her family was unparalleled. She was the lighthouse guiding her family, and her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and cherished memories.
Her spirituality was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and lending strength in times of adversity. Describing Loraine as loving, generous, or outgoing would be an understatement. Her very essence was a testament to a life lived fully, with every heartbeat resonating with love.
Loraine's siblings, Charles, Diane (Faye), and Dorthy, have preceded her in their heavenly journey. Left to honor Loraine's memory are her children, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.
We celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. As the days pass and we reminisce, let us remember Loraine not with tears of sorrow but with smiles and gratitude for the time we shared.
