Karen Denise Boydston-Grider was born to her father, Jimmy Don Boydston, and her mother, Martha Ruth Doyal-Boydston, on February 21, 1966 in Amarillo, Texas.
Karen grew up in Amarillo where her father served as an Amarillo police officer and multiple terms as Potter County Sheriff for a total of 34 years service in law enforcement. Karen made her home for the past several years in Grand Prairie, Texas. She worked first as an employee and later as the owner of G.Willickers Pub in Arlington, Texas
Karen married her best friend, Clarence on July 11, 2017.
Karen passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. She is survived by her mother, Martha Boydston; her brother Gary Boydston; her nephews, Michael Don Boydston and Robert Alan Boydston; her stepdaughters Carmen Grider-Luke (Charles), Carrie Grider-Thompson (Paul), Caseye Grider-Smith (Jason), and four grandchildren as well as many other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Grider and her father Jimmy Don Boydston.
Karen was known for her stunning smile, her tender heart for her fellow human, and her great love for animals. According to one friend, Sandy, Karen volunteered and recruited others to volunteer for Meals on Wheels and kept bags of non-perishable food in her car to hand out to homeless people. Karen was passionate about her rescue dogs and cats, often posting pictures with details about how they were doing on social media and trying to find them good homes.
A visitation for Karen will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, Tx. At the request of the funeral home, please wear face masks. The private funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm.
