Jose worked for Auger Drilling as a welder and was truly dedicated to his job. He would share photos of his work to friends and family. He never complained and was a genuinely sweet man. He was always there to help anyone and cared very deeply for everyone he knew.
Jose loved the outdoors and nature in particular. He enjoyed visiting his brother's ranch in Tennessee. He had a great fondness for eagles. He was a jokester, loved watching "I Love Lucy" and John Wayne westerns. Jose became passionate about Western wear and Cumbias music about 1984-1985 and this started his Western phase of dressing. He was "old school", loving tape cassettes and old trucks, until he bought his new Ford F350 diesel! Until then, he had a 1980"s truck.
However, more than anything, Jose loved his family. He is survived by his son, Ricardo DeLaPena and Jazmin DeLaPena and his siblings; Irene, Yolanda, Consuelo, Leticia Ramirez, Aureliano, Ysaias, Federico Ramirez; and many nieces and nephews.
A velorio for Jose will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A celebración de vida will take place Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home.
