Jose was born on November 2nd, 1962 in Brownfield, Texas to Felix and Angela Guzman. Jose spent his early years in Texas, but the family moved to Iowa after working there during Summer seasons. Jose did attend elementary and middle school in Mason CIty, but after the family moved to Garner, he attended high school there and graduated in 1982. After a brief stint at NIACC, Jose decided to enter the Army National Guard for a couple of years.
Upon discharge, he entered the workforce at Winnebago Industries in Forest City. Jose was a hard worker at numerous jobs in Iowa, and finally decided to move to Texas in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He became a forklift driver for Sam's Club for 20 plus years and finally worked with Mission Foods in their warehouse.
Jose loved laughing and hanging out with friends and family. He was always a good and trusted friend, who would offer to help any in need. He would always boast about the great times of his life roller skating in Mason City at Roller City. Being a movie buff, Jose always enjoyed a great action movie. His love of 80s hard rock music spawned his desire to grow out his hair for a good portion of his adult life. For sports, Jose did play a little high school basketball. He was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Texas Rangers. Jose was so happy that the Texas Rangers finally won the 2023 World series.
Jose is survived by his mother, Angela Guzman, brothers Jesus Guzman and his wife, Dawn, Ricardo Guzman and his wife, Thitsana, and Adam Guzman and his wife, Erin, uncles Heriberto Guzman, Jesus Jr. Garza, Mauro Rocha, Mariano Escobedo, aunts Julia Rocha, and Irene Guzman, niece Amara Fisher, and many cousins.
Jose was preceded in death by; father Felix Guzman, and sister Maria Guzman.
A Celebration of Life for Jose will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Grand Prairies Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Light refreshments will be made available during the celebration of life.
