Joe R. Cavazos Jr. passed away February 14, 2014. He was born December 19, 1940 in Hebbronville, TX to Jose and Maria Cavazos.Joe grew up in San Juan where he was an altar boy and graduated from San Juan High School. After moving to Grand Prairie, TX he met Ernestine Gonzalez and they began dating. After dating for 13 years, on June 30, 1995 they became man and wife and were happily married for 19 years.He enjoyed spending time with his family, having bar-b-q’s and drinking an ice cold Shlitz. Even though he was a true Texan, Joe did not support Texas teams. He rooted for the Pittsburg Steelers and the New York Yankee’s, and when his grandchildren would come around in their Dallas Cowboys gear he always had a something to say. He loved to joke and had a great sense of humor.Joe was a generous man, who despite his size could be very feisty. A true entertainer he was very knowledgeable. Joe’s true passion was his antique cars; he would attend car shows and swap meets around the metroplex. When he wasn’t admiring them, he was collecting and restoring them from the ground up. He was a member of “Los Bajitos of Grand Prairie”.As much as he loved his car, family was the most important thing to Joe. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For 13 years, every Saturday he would go dancing with his wife.Joe is preceded in death by his parents and son Joseph Noel Cavazos Sr.He is survived by his wife Ernestine Cavazos; children Joanna C. Mendoza and husband Edward Jr., Marla Trevino and husband Rick, Mario Isaac Cavazos; grandchildren Edward Mendoza Jr., Vanessa Aguirre and husband Salvador, Rubina Mendoza, Rickey Trevino, Andrew Trevino, Joseph Noel Cavazos Jr., Erica N. Colunga and husband Alex, Joseph I Cavazos, Christopher A Cavazos; Brother Ulvado Robles; 11 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
