James enlisted in the US Army in 1951 at the age of 18. He served 2 years and then transferred from active duty to the Army Reserve to complete service under the Universal MIlitary Training Act. During his military time, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and was trained as a Drilling Machine Operator. In September of 1954, he achieved the Rank of Corporal (T), also known as Corporal Tech.
He was a wonderful husband and father, who will be greatly missed.
Survivors: Wife, Shirlene Sims; step-sons, Larry Nevil and Jimmy Nevil; and numerous grandchildren.
A graveside service for James will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Nevil, Larry Nevil, Taylor Weger, Oscar Martinez, Anthony Nevil and Jacob Nevil.
