Ida Lou inspired many students through the years as a school teacher for the Grand Prairie Independent School District. She taught 4th graders at Austin Elementary School and 1st graders at Bonham Elementary School. Many of those students continued to bring joy to her life by staying in touch with her over the years.
As a teacher, she met Donald R. Collins by way of a blind date. Donald was a coach and teacher, later a school administrator, and the love of her life. They were married in June of 1960 and together raised their 2 sons.
Ida Lou loved serving as a regular member and as the church organist and soloist at First United Methodist Church of Grand Prairie and Inglewood United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie.
She enjoyed traveling and was captivated by the Hill Country of Texas. In 1997, Ida Lou and Don moved to Georgetown, TX where they attended the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown. After the death of her husband, Ida Lou so enjoyed traveling the world.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Don, and her sister, Carrye Beth Condray.
