Hazel Oneeta Hensley passed away August 11, 2013 in Dallas. She was born June 15, 1936 in New Willard, TX to Claude and Eula Bell Cherry.Hazel grew up in east Texas, she attended Livingston High School. She then went on to receive her associate’s degree from Mountain View Junior College. She was a hard worker, starting at the bottom as a secretary for a doctor at a hospital moving all the way up to Human Resource Director. Hazel married Jimmy in 1971, and gave all her attention to her family of 7. She was a giving, loving mother who enjoyed gardening and swimming. Holidays and family get together’s were always a good time in her house. She would cook and decorate the house and never forgot to get the kids their Christmas pajamas.She loved to entertain, not just for holidays. She was a member of soroptomist club, a Mu kappa Beta Sigma Phi sorority member and a fond attendee of The Oasis on Joe Pool Lake. She enjoyed sewing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, attending the Uptown Theater and sitting in her backyard.Hazel was a courageous woman with a can do attitude. She loved the hot Texas weather, bright colors and to travel all over the world. Her green thumb could be seen from anything she touched and she never let her kids cut her tree in the backyard. She is preceded by her parents and her husband Jimmy Leonard Hensley.She is survived by her daughters Stacey Hensley, Terry Kirchmeyer and husband Ray, Diana Reid and husband Larry, Claudia Rogers and husband Gary; son Russell Hensley and wife Cathy; grandchildren Gary Duane Rogers Jr., Christa Renee Rogers, April Hensley, Stephanie Hensley, Andrew Hensley, Katie Hensley, Christina Pritchard, Patrick Hensley, Courtney Reid and 24 great-grandchildren.
