Gary Ethridge, age 86, of Grand Prairie, Texas died peacefully at his home on October 12th.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1938 to Frank and Ruth Ethridge. He was brought up in a Christian family. By nature, he was very independent and enjoyed trying out new things in life.
Gary attended Polytechnic Elementary of Fort Worth. He graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, and attended Florida Christian College for a few years.
Eventually, he returned back to Texas, where he soon met and married Rosalind Doan on Oct 18, 1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth Ethridge, son Sean Ethridge, three brothers Danny, Maurice, and Cecil; and also by his great grandson Gavin Ethridge.
He is survived by sister Barbara Kee, and children Valerie Tharnish, Craig Ethridge, Shauna Stegent, and Kris Ethridge.
His career was two-fold, selling stainless steel metal and selling auto-parts. Gary was an avid car-racing fan and participant.
Throughout his life he often served as a preacher of the gospel as well as continually caring for widows, handicapped, and folks with special needs. Gary loved music, especially church hymns.
A visitation for Gary will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at First Christian Church, 202 W Tarrant Rd, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Southland Memorial Park, 1100 S.W. 3rd Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75051.
