Estelle Evangeline Brower Smith, 85, of Grand Prairie, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2013 at an Arlington hospital with family present.A Requiem Eucharist will be held on Friday, October 11 at 11 am at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 727 Hill Street, Grand Prairie. The youngest of four daughters, Estelle was born Dec. 17, 1927 in Chuquicamata, Chile to William Macon and Otilia Mieres Montt Brower. She came to the United States at age 16 to attend preparatory school. In the late 1940s, she joined her parents in Grand Prairie and married her husband, Lloyd Winston Smith, in January 1951. They raised five children together. A devoted stay-at-home mother and grandmother, Estelle enjoyed playing games and hosting family gatherings, sewing and needlework. With a passion for genealogy, she was a member of the Bluebonnet Chapter of the DAR and was also a long-standing member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.Estelle was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lloyd, in 2010, three sisters (Arlene Crocker, Nancy Kelly and Alice Furtardo), and her parents.She is survived by daughters Marla Hathcoat, Lauren Smith and Charlene Aspinwall; sons John Smith and Winston Smith; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
