Donald Ray Reeves, 78, of Grand Prairie, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 21st, 2021. Don was born June 29th, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas at Harris Hospital to Byrd and Lucile Reeves. At the ripe age of 9 years old, Don accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior during VBS at First Baptist Church of White Settlement, and ever since then, his love for Jesus grew from a humble mustard seed to a mighty mountain.
During his years at Brewer High School in Fort Worth, Texas, Don loved sports and he went on to excel in football, baseball, track, and boxing, following directly behind his beloved older brothers. After high school, Don earned his business degree at North Texas University and went on to later receive his MBA at Amber University.
Don spent 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserve and during that time, Don laid eyes on his beloved sweetheart of 57 years, Janie Davis during her solo performance of “I Can’t Say No,” from “Oklahoma,” and they got married 2 ½ months later on Dec. 18th, 1964. The rest was history.
Don worked in several different fields within the DFW area, including his time with Century21 as a real estate agent, a purchasing agent for several different companies and finished his career at Lockheed Martin in 2009. Don was a hard worker, but his greatest passions lied in shepherding his family, being a dear friend to many and serving within his beloved church body.
Don was one of the founding members of Believer’s Bible Church better known to many as Grand Prairie Bible Church. He delighted in serving as an elder and deacon for many years, leading countless home studies, teaching Sunday school to all ages and serving any and all who were in need within the church community.
Proceeding Don in death were his parents, Byrd and Lucile Reeves; his brothers Buddy, Stafford, and Presley.
Don is survived by his wife Janie; his children, Scott (Tomara) Reeves, and Tammy (John) Toliver; and his 17 grandchildren.
