Diana Jean Harp Evans joined her Lord and Savior June 30th, 2012 after a sixteen month struggle against lung cancer. Strong and vibrant until the very end, Diana passed in her home, as she planned, surrounded by her two children Keith Colvin and Kathi Walker, her brother Bob Harp and sister(-in-law) Pam Harp and her friend of half a century Virginia Gilbert. Her stuggle was made more difficult on July 4th, 2011 by the sudden death of her soul mate and husband of 30 years Douglas Evans. She carried on and remained active in her church and life making each day count. For fifteen and one half months she held the disease at bay and was able to travel, keep her routine and schedule and make her 50th high school reunion. Diana was a life long resident of Grand Prairie, Texas graduating (just barely according to her) from Grand Prairie High School in 1961. Diana was preceeded in passing by her parents Robert "Bob" Harp and Bessie Harp. Diana was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Grand Prairie and was active in its operations as Treasurer and the church's thriving child care center. Diana was instrumental in the organization of the Grand Prairie Girls Softball Association in the early 1970s which spearheaded adding two "girls fields" at Cottonwood Park and eventually the four diamonds across 3rd street. Diana loved M&M collectibles and had a legendary collection to prove it. Along with her husband Doug they routinely would open the house to local day cares for a visit to the collection or the elaborate holiday train set up that consummed the entire den of their home. Diana listed herself as a bookkeeper and accounting specialist when asked and had long tenures at various companies in the metroplex but what she was could best be described at the ultimate organizer. A skill her family, friends and church will miss. Diana is survived by her brother Bob Harp (Pam) of Hide-a-way, her son Keith Colvin (Cindy) of Rowlett, her daughter Kathi Walker (J.R.) of Arlington, son Paul Evans of San Diego (Renee), daughter Lisa Pyle (Alan) of Rice, Sister-in-law Katie Knox of Sherman, Sister-in-law Elaine Hood (Billy) of Whitehouse, Brother-in-law Larry Jackson (Shirley) of Arlington and Cindy Jackson of Granbury. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; numerous co-workers; her family of friends at First Christian Church and Cross Point Church of Christ; life long friend and confidant Virginia Gilbert (Butch); long time friend Madie Vernon (Paul). Visitation will be on Thursday July 5, 2012 at Bean Massy Burge Funeral Home (733 Dalworth Street Grand Prairie, TX) from 10:00am to 12:00 Funeral Service will follow at First Christian Church (202 West Tarrant Road, Grand Prairie, TX) at 2:00pm Interment will follow funeral service to Southland Memorial Park
