William Park, 88 of Fruita, CO, passed away January 1, 2011 at Family Health West in Fruita.
William was born on November 8, 1922 in Molson, WA.
He made a career in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1969. During WWII, he received a Silver Star for his gallantry in action in Belgium during January 1945 with the 330th Infantry. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal during the Rhineland Campaign in Europe and received two Purple Hearts.
After WWII, he decided to make the Army his career and finished his fighting duties in the Korean War, receiving The Commendation Ribbon.
William leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law; Heinz and Mollie Park of Fruita, CO, two grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerdi Park on December 12, 2002.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Martin Mortuary with a committal with military honors at 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Veterans memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado
