Victoria Ann Ferree Parker
March 16, 1941 - March 29, 2015
Victoria Ann Ferree Parker, 74, passed away March 29, 2015 from complications of progressive supranuclear palsy, a disease that she fought with courage and grace for eight years.
Vicki was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Avis and Myron Ferree. She had one brother, George Ferree. They moved to Cortez when she was three. Her parents divorced and she was raised by Avis and J.C. Hamilton. She always had horses and remembers riding her horse to school.
Vicki met her best friend and the love of her life, Jim Parker, while attending CU in Denver. They graduated on the same day, Vicki from nursing school and Jim from medical school. They lived in Hanover, NH, and Denver while Jim completed his internship and residency. They then moved to Grand Junction. They had three children and Vicki stayed home to care for them until they were teenagers. She then returned to nursing, working in the telemetry unit at St. Mary's for 20 years. She retired so she could focus on being a grandmother.
Vicki was a warm, generous, kind, smart, organized, creative, hard working person. She was a good friend, great listener, and wonderful wife, mom, and grandmother.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Kevin (Vicky); daughters, Karen (Joe) Hatfield, and Kristen (Jason) Stanfield; grandchildren, Shelby, Abby, and Bailey Parker; Ryan and Yin Huan Hatfield, and Parker, Jake and Alexa Stanfield.
Services will be Friday, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, with reception to follow.
