Susan Elizabeth Jones

Susan Elizabeth Jones, age 73, of Fruita, CO, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at HopeWest Hospice Care Center. Susan was born on October 30, 1948 in Oklahoma to John Cox and Nell Cooper Cox. She spent her childhood in Bartlesville, OK and then her family moved to San Diego, CA where she attended high school. This is where she met her husband, William Jones (Bill), and was married on April 12, 1968. Susan and Bill spent many years in Aurora, CO and is where they raised their two daughters, Jamie and Jodie. After retirement, they decided to move to Grand Junction, CO for a slower way of living and then eventually moved to Fruita, CO.

Susan and Bill lived in Fruita for many years before Bill’s passing in 2017. Prior to Bill’s passing, their favorite fun time was gambling. When younger and before retirement, their yearly fall trip to Las Vegas was their favorite time of year. After retirement and the birth of their grandkids, Susan enjoyed spending time with them. She loved her grandkids, Sadie, Cole, Sophia & Olivia, “to the moon and back”. Susan lived day to day for Tinkerbell, her little brown fur baby and her cat, Tom. And anyone who knew Susan, knew she enjoyed listening to Bruno Mars.

Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her parents, Jack and Nell; and her two brothers, Roger and Mickey Cox.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Jamie Jones (Paul Scott) of Loma, CO and Jodie Jones (Dan Jones) of Yakima, WA; and her grandchildren, Sadie, Cole, Sophia, Olivia, and Kyler and Vivi Scott.

A visitation will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 5-7pm. A graveside service will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 1pm. Following the graveside service, Susan will be laid to rest with her husband.
