Shauna was born in Grand Junction, Colorado to Norman and Olive (Bartholomew) Bishop. She was the 2nd of 3 children. Growing up, her father worked for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff and assistant Director of the county work release program. Her mother worked at Montgomery Ward’s Department store.
Shauna spent her childhood and most of her adult life in the Grand Junction area until 2019 when she moved to Eckert with her husband Duane Knapp.
Shauna went to school in Grand Junction and graduated from Central High School Class of 1978. She worked part time during her high school years at Rexall drug store.
After high school she went to work at Mountain Bell Telephone as an operator and then other departments as operator positions were phased out. In 1984 Shauna had the opportunity to go work for Mesa County Department of Human Services where she held many different positions. She finished her career and retired in 2019.
Shauna was passionate about animals. Her pets included dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, Llamas, goats, domestic rats and many other animals over the years. When she chose an animal she was “all-in”. Her rabbit and bird raising eras were out of control with large numbers of them! She (thank goodness) would phase out one type of animal before getting into the next.
She loved to dance and met her husband Duane at the Moose Lodge. They continued dancing Friday and Saturday nights at the Moose and other places throughout their marriage and made many friends along the way.
Her other hobbies and interests included gardening, camping, fishing and the outdoors in general. She enjoyed planning and working on projects at her home with her husband.
Shauna is survived by her husband Duane Knapp, two sons, Trenton (Ginger) Wilson and Phillip (Jill) Wilson, a sister Pamela Bishop, a brother Jeff (Laura) Bishop, and five grandchildren Kian, Chloe, Jameson Allison and Tena. She is preceded in death by her mother and father.
