Dale was born on September 19, 1931, to Levi and Rena (Phileo) Smith in Nebraska. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. Dale proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. A devout Christian, Dale dedicated much of his life to mission work in Bolivia and Colombia.
In 1961, Dale married the love of his life, Luella Berg, and together they had three children: Bryan, Andrew, and Paula.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Don and Kieth. He is survived by his wife, Luella; his sons, Bryan Smith and Andrew Smith; his daughter, Paula Smith; 9 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life in Dale's honor will be held on December 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 395 31 5/8 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81504.
