Joyce Shaffer, age 74, of Loma, Colorado passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Joyce was born November 9, 1948 in Cortez, Colorado to parents Herman Johnson and Helen Scott Marquess. She spent her childhood in Cahone, Colorado outside of Cortez and attended school in Nucla, Colorado graduating from Nucla High School. Throughout her life she moved to many different parts of Colorado including Craig and Montrose.
Joyce was an active member in the Christian community and spent her life as a dedicated house-wife, musician, and as a bookkeeper for Carbide Union. She loved music and went on to record and publish three separate albums. Joyce also loved horse racing and was an avid patriot and Christian.
She is survived by her husband Dan Shaffer, son Jeff Stevens, multiple nieces and nephews, and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Joyce will be held on July 12, 2023 at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Grand Junction, Colorado at 1:00PM.
