Jamie Dawn Gustafson

Jamie Dawn Gustafson, age 31 of Grand Junction, CO, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at her home. Jamie was born on January 12, 1992 Ogden, UT to Mr. Roger W. Gustafson and Mrs. Benita Mecum. She cherished her daughter Indi and her nieces and nephews. Jamie spent her career in childcare and teaching young students. She loved the outdoors, sleeping on the trampoline with her daughter, traveling and camping, and her cats. She also liked to bake and garden and loved music and attending music concerts and festivals. Jamie was an amazing dancer and appeared in multiple dance recitals including the Nutcracker yearly. Along with her daughter Indi, she attended all of her nieces and nephews events. Jamie had a beautiful heart and loved everyone she met.

Jamie was preceded in death by her son Elijah Nash Starkey; her former companion Jared Dewayne Starkey; and her grandparents, Joy and Jack Hirrill and Pearl and Harold Gustafson.

Survivors include her beloved daughter Indi Joy Starkey; her parents, Roger W. Gustafson and Benita Mecum; her step-father, Daryld B. Mecum; her siblings, Kerry Platts and husband Robert Platts and Liskin Thornhill and husband Ben Thornhill; her nieces and nephews, Josie Platts, Jack Platts, Justus Platts, Jorgia Platts, and Reed Thornhill, and many loving cousins and extended family.

A viewing will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 1:00 – 2:00pm. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Orchard Mesa Cemetery. A reception will be held in her honor following the burial at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Jamie has prior requested that she wouldn’t want anyone to dress in black. Please honor her and dress in vibrant colors.
