Ira Herman Kuhlman, loving father, grand-father, and great grand-father, uncle, friend of many, and peacemaker of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away on December 10, 2019, at the age of 73, surrounded by family and friends.
Ira was born in Springer, New Mexico on December 28th, 1945 to Everett and Mary Kuhlman. He received his certification as a master electrician in Wisconsin and was involved in construction, mining, and natural gas. Ira was an EMT for a coal mine, and a Texas Highway Patrolman.
Ira loved hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and traveling in his RV with his wife Betty Jo. Ira had a passion for learning and sharing knowledge, and mentored many junior electricians. He never knew a stranger and had a wonderful disposition that was infectious.
Ira was preceded in death by Everett Kuhlman (father); Mary Kuhlman (mother); Paul Kuhlman (brother); Marjorie Della Kuhlman (sister-in-law); and Sandy Kuhlman (sister-in-law).
Ira is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Kuhlman of Grand Junction CO; brother, Jack Kuhlman; daughters, Becky P. (Michael) Hood of Ellicott City MD, Pamela (Jeffrey) Chapman of Lubbock TX, Laura (Shawn) Henn of Lubbock TX, Salie (Robert) Stoner-Bennet of Pacifica CA, Beckie Gebhart of Grand Junction CO, and Laurel Gebhart of Kempner TX; son, Doyle (Sandra) Stoner of Juneau AK; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Springer, New Mexico on January 18, 2020, starting a 10:00 AM.
