Glenda attended Riverside school and graduated from Grand Junction High School with the class of 1955. As a young girl she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior.
She married Al Thorpe in 1956 and to this union a son was born, Howard Walter Thorpe. Glenda was married to Sam Kaufman in 1969 until his death in 1982. Glenda married Frank Charlesworth on August 11, 1984, at the King Mountain Ranch, McCoy Colorado. They enjoyed 28 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 2011. She was his “Sweetheart.”
Many happy times with great memories were spent in her beloved home with family and friends. Glenda was a friend to all and enjoyed spending time with her high school classmates, church friends, co-workers from Home Loan State Bank and caring neighbors. Glenda enjoyed working with flowers and gardening, she had a special gift as a caregiver, loved animals and she also enjoyed the wildlife around her Monument home. Her love for life, positive attitude, contagious smile, and caring personality will be deeply missed.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Alice (Peggy) Castle. She is survived by her beloved son Howard Thorpe and his wife Angela Thorpe and three precious granddaughters, Blair Thorpe, Taylor Thorpe, and Avery Thorpe. She is also survived by her sister Rita Latham and her husband Garland, sister Dana Smith and her husband Ron, and sister Sheila Rew and her husband Jerry.
The love of her life was her son and daughter-in-law and their three daughters that “warmed the cockles of her heart.”
She had a huge heart that held us all. She will be missed and always remembered. From Rosevale Road to the Pearly Gates of Heaven, she had a full and meaningful life. Best Friends…forever and we will love you forever.
Her family would like to extend their deep gratitude and appreciation to the caring staff at The Fountains and The HopeWest Hospice.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Victory Life Church at 11:00 am on Saturday March 9th, 2024.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to HopeWest Hospice.
