He was born on March 1, 1935 to Bertram Rucker and Ivy Gladys
(Barris) Rucker. He grew up in Grand Junction. He graduated from Grand Junction Central High School and attended college at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado.
George spent 35 years working for U.S. West (Qwest) Telephone
Company in Grand Junction. On June 17, 1956, he married Effie Mae Hayes. They have two sons, Ron (Kamilee) and Vernon (Lindy), four precious grandchildren, Kirsten (Jon) Graham, Ron William (Annie), Casey, Taylor (Tori) and one very precious great granddaughter Ivy May Graham, plus many loved nieces and nephews.
George loved his family, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and
boating. He was an avid trap shooter, one year placing first place in the Colorado State Trap Club tournament, plus many years of local
tournaments throughout the state.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Martin's Mortuary with services to be held on Saturday, February 16, at 10:00 am at Martin's Mortuary.
He is survived by his wife, Effie, sons Ron and Vern and respective families. Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters Donna Lee Sager and Lina Rae Gregg
