Gary Robert Proctor

cancer for the past four months.

Gary was born on November 2, 1944 in Montrose Colorado to Robert and Emma Proctor. He spent his entire childhood in Paradox Colorado. In 1965 he married the love of his life, Karon Blood. Together they had a union that lasted over half a century and produced two children, a daughter, Ailene, and a son, Gary Michael. In his lifetime he had many occupations. Gary was a jack of all trades and excellent at most of them. He worked as a logger/sawmill worker, truck driver, driller, mechanic, and heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed working and at the time of his death he was still employed by the New Horizon Mine in Nucla as a heavy equipment operator where he had worked the past 23 years and was affectionately known as "Doc" by his co-workers. Gary was an avid reader, he enjoyed watching football, and his favorite TV shows. Above all things that Gary enjoyed and loved, his family was first. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his world. He was a great supporter and follower of all their respective sports, wrestling, softball and most recently

strider racing. He felt so fortunate to get to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and depended on each and everyone. He is survived by his wife Karon, his children Ailene Smith(Freddie) of Nucla, and Gary Proctor(Donna) of Pueblo West, his grandchildren Mikael Smith (Kimbry) of Grand Junction, Melissa Johnson (David) of Nucla, and Bailey Proctor of Pueblo West, his great grandchildren Hunter and Emily Johnson and Tytan and Mylo Smith. Gary is survived by a sister, Charlene Burnett (Ken) of Cedaredge and brother, Mark Proctor (Judy) of Paradox, and many other sister and brother-in-laws and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Emma Proctor. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Nucla cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction.
