Doug was born in Glenwood Springs, CO to Clay and Helen (Duffy) Walck on August 27th, 1929. He graduated from Garfield County High School in 1948. He worked on the family ranch until being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952. In 1958, he joined the Colorado State Patrol and was assigned to the Grand Junction area. In 1966, he transferred to the Highway Road Department and retired in 1987. Doug was a 4-H leader and a mentor to many young people. Doug was a member of Odd Fellows, Masonic and Eastern Star Lodges. In addition, he was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory.
Doug married Ethel Kissell on November 12th, 1949 in Sunlight, CO. Born to this union were 2 daughters; Kim and Vickie.
Doug is survived by daughters, Kim (Larry) Rowden of Broken Bow, NE, and Vickie (Tony) Line of Terry, MT. grandchildren, Lucas (Morgan) Line of Powderville, MT, William (Amy) Rowden of Cheyenne, WY, and Allison (Andy) Chelewski of Burwell, NE. As well as great-grandson, Jared Clay Line.
He was preceded in death by Ethel, his loving wife of 62 years, his parents, Clay and Helen, as well as a sister, Berniece Hammerich.
A memorial service with Military Honors will take place on Monday, December 16, 2024, 10am, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
