Carol Sue Chapman

Born April 20, 1939 in Dodge City Kansas to Hardin and Estle Sinclair, Carol lived with her parents, 4 sisters and two brothers in Kansas, Missouri, then settling in Arriba Colorado where she graduated Valedictorian in 1957. Carol attended Colorado State University for two years, then flight attendant school in Los Angeles in 1959 where she was courted by Charles who was in San Diego for Boot Camp. They were married December 25, 1959 in Flagler, CO and moved to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where their daughters Charlyn and Colleen were born. In 1965, while stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii Carol gave birth to their son Charles II.

Carol started her career as a Medical Transcriptionist in Cherry Point, NC. Her career moved with the Marine Corp to many stations including New River, NC, Honolulu, HI, Warminster, PA and Laguna Nigel, CA where Charles retired in 1988. Carol and Charles bought their home in Whitewater, CO and raised quarter horses while Carol continued to work as a Medical Transcriptionist at St. Mary’s until her retirement in 2007.

Carol’s passion for her Lord and Savior was shared with others through teaching piano, singing in church choir, and directing choir including numerous Christmas and Easter cantatas.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Charles, her children Charlyn (Dan), Colleen (Chris), and Charles II; four grandchildren - Stephanie (Jeremy) Wangerow, Amy (Kolton) Erickson, Laura (Spencer) Macklin, Dustin (Jessica) Blundell; 6 great grandchildren - Austin Wangerow, Kallie Wangerow, Kasen Erickson, Grady Erickson, Charlee Sue Blundell, and Tallulah Jaymes Macklin and her sister Loris Hooks.

The family would like to thank Comfort Keepers, HopeWest, and the amazing friends that have supported us through this journey. In lieu of Flowers, the family would like donations to be made to HopeWest 3090 North 12th Street,#B., Grand Junction, CO 81506.

Funeral services will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10:00 am.
