Billy Rollins passed away December 21, 2015 at his Grand Junction home after a lengthy illness, he was 84.
Bill was born on November 24, 1931 in Twin Hills, Oklahoma from the union of Carl and Alice Rollins. He lived in various places in Oklahoma while his father traveled for work in the oil fields. He graduated from High School in Shidler, Oklahoma.
At age 18, Bill left Oklahoma to join the United States Air Force and worked as an Air Traffic Controller in Dover, Delaware. As a young man he played golf and softball in Denver as a pitcher for many years.
On September 5, 1993 he married Ida in Las Vegas, she survives. Bill attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Ida and he loved fishing and camping in Colorado.
Bill was a sports enthusiast with the Broncos and Rockies being some of his favorite teams. Memorable times were made watching his grandchildren playing sports. Bill was a soft spoken, down to earth man, not known to mince words who loved spending time with his family at family gatherings.
Bill leaves behind his wife, Ida Rollins of Grand Junction, a son, Wade Rollins of Denver, CO and step-sons, Gary Marquez of Mack, CO, Norman (Connie) Marquez and Vern Marquez both of Grand Junction, CO, a daughter, Jane (Larry) Scheid of Lakewood, CO and step-daughter Diane (Gary) Lucero of Grand Junction, CO, a brother, Tom (Joan) Rollins of Grand Junction, CO, sister, Shirley Mack of Solvang, CA, Sharon (Gerald) Jackson of Konawa, OK, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Rollins, an infant son, Billy “Buddy” Gene Rollins Jr. and a granddaughter, Mary Ida Marquez.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Martin Mortuary with a visitation time from 10:30 am till service time. A committal service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
