a retired Flint Police officer, died on, July 6, 2015 after a long battle with
Leukemia.
Mr. McIntyre was born on June, 3, 1946 in Port Huron, MI. to Kenneth Edmund McIntyre and
Loretta Abigail McIntyre.
Surviving are his daughter, Paula Adams, and his grandson, Jack Adams of Indianapolis IN, as
well as his brother Kenneth McIntyre, sister-in-law Anita McIntyre, niece Abigail McIntyre and
her husband Robert Knotts of Grosse Pointe Park, MI, and nephew Jordan McIntyre and his
wife Lynette and daughter Georgia of Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia
Richter McIntyre, in 2015.
Mr. McIntyre grew up in Port Huron, MI. He sang in The First Presbyterian Church Choir. He
played high school football and travel hockey. He was a member of the first organized hockey
team in Port Huron, the Port Huron Rotary Pee Wee team. He also was an SCUBA diver and
was a member of the Channel Cats Club. Later, he served as a rescue diver for the Flint Police
Department.
In 1978 , He married Maureen Russell Schlott , now a retired Flint Police officer, the mother of
his beloved daughter Paula. In 1992, he married Patricia Richter, who grew up in Port Huron
and was his high school “sweetheart”.
Mr. McIntyre graduated from Port Huron High School in 1965, from Port Huron Junior College
in 1967, and from Michigan State University in 1968, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Police Administration. Mr. McIntyre joined the Flint Police Department in 1969 as a patrolman.
From 1975 to 1983 he was the Police Liaison Officer for Northern High School and Whittier
Middle School. In 1983 he became the Sergeant in charge of the Flint Police Water Rescue
Unit. In 1984 he supervised the Burglary Investigations unit and acted as a polygraph examiner
for the Criminal Investigation Bureau. In 1995, he became the Lieutenant in charge of the
Arson Squad. From 1996 until his retirement in 2000, he was the Lieutenant in charge of the
Homicide, Robbery and Sexual Assault unit.
After his retirement from the Flint Police department in 2000 through his final retirement in 2005,
Mr. McIntyre was employed by the State of Michigan Depart of Environmental Quality , Criminal
Investigation Section, as a Detective Sargent.
Mr. McIntyre was a dedicated family man who took great pride in the accomplishments of his
daughter, Paula, and devoted himself to his wife Pat , who suffered from a long illness. He also
took a strong interest in the welfare of his fellow police officers, and from 1984 to 1995, was a
trustee of the Flint Police Sergeant’s Association.
Mr. McIntyre was a sailor and outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, particularly for Pickerel on the
St. Clair River. From his youth until his last years he was an accomplished deer hunter and a
serious Grouse and Woodcock hunter who owned and trained several bird dogs. For almost 26
straight years he and his brother, Ken, hunted grouse in Michigan’s upper peninsula. He was a
member of the Ruffed Grouse Society, and the Loyal Order of Dedicated Grouse Hunters, loved
German Short Hair Pointers, appreciated vintage side by side shotguns and enjoyed shooting
sporting clays at the Genesee Sportsman’s club .
