Leslie Rachel Sansom, age 50, of Burton, Michigan passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 surrounded by her family. Rachel was born June 15, 1974 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from Elmer Knopf Learning Center in 2000, worked at Vocational Independence Program until they closed in 2019.
She was our "Dancing Queen", dancing adaptive dance for 38 years. She loved bowling on the Terminators for 16 years, participated in Area 13 Special Olympics over 30 years, especially enjoyed the Lois Crag Invitational during the Crim Festival.
Rachel loved spending time with family and friends, trips to Disney World, arts and crafts and singing. Rachel is survived by her mother, Connie Krug; brother, Matthew Krug; nephew, Elijah Krug; aunts: Sandy Leslie (aka "aunt Lady"), Karen Rhoades, Nancy (Larry) Rathburn; uncle, Ewin (Linda) Sansom; several cousins, extended family, Tiffany Krug, Paul Krug, John Krug, Maryann Palid and "uncle" Dave Johnson. Rachel was preceded in death by her father, William Sansom; grandparents, Bill and Barb Leslie and George and Evelyn Sansom.
Rachel was a ray of loving sunshine and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and all the wonderful staff that gave Rachel such loving care.
A celebration of life service for Rachel will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E Hill Rd, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Officated by Chaplin Juile Stuelpnagel. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery, Churubusco, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disability Network or Compassus Hospice in memory of Rachel.
