JANUARY, Dorothy J., age 71, of Burton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday, October 19, 2012, at the Holy Ghost Church of God in Christ, 801 Addison Street, Flint, Elder Robert Burrell & Elder Robert Allen officiating. The family hour will be at the church from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Friday. Mrs. January will lie in state at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Thursday, October 18th, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dr. Dorothy Jean January was born April 13, 1941 in Memphis, TN, to the parents of Clinton and Johnnie Guy. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2012. Dr. January graduated from Memphis City High School. She also attended Mott Community College and the University of Michigan-Flint. She retired from Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI after 33 years of service. She received her Doctorate of Theology from Destiny Bible College in 2008. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Holy Ghost Church Ministries for the past 18 years. She was the Director of Kitchen Ministries, in which she labored tirelessly until her passing. She took her Ministry very seriously and kept everyone focused on their jobs and assignments at all times. She was also very supportive of the Youth Department. Dr. January was the loving and devoted wife to Deacon Fred January, Jr., her husband of 48 years. They were together for over 52 years. First and foremost Dr. January was a dedicated follower of Christ. She enjoyed shopping on QVC, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an herbalist and encouraged her family and friends to use herbs as an alternative to medicine. Dr. January leaves in God’s Care husband of 48 years, Mr. Fred January, Jr. sons; Fred (Michelle) January III of Columbus, OH, Guy Anthony (Helena) January of Flint, MI , daughters, Meredith (Napoleon) Ford of Flint, MI, Crystal (Terence) Craft of Caledonia, MI, Cassie (Tyrone) Lee of Kentwood, MI, and Ebony January of Grand Blanc, MI; 14 Grandchildren, Dion Mitchell, Jalan January, Bryce January, Guy Anthony January, Jr., Janiro Ford, Martwaz Ford, Napoleon Ford, II, Christian Guy Craft, Justice January Craft, Faith Destiny Lee, Joy Serenity Lee, Coraya January Jones, Ryan Scott Sanders, Jr. and Summer Rose Sanders; 5 Great-Grandchildren, Kameron Ford, Janay Ford, Janiro Ford II, Maya Ford and Martwaz Ford II; 3 brothers, Herman Mohammed (Doris) Guy of Savannah, GA , Clinton Guy, Jr. of Flint, MI and Melvin (Charlotte) Guy of Memphis, TN; 1 sister, Shirley G. Dobbins, of Memphis, TN, Sister in Laws Genevieve (Louis) Simpson, Alma Haralson and Delmarie Cabine.
