Lercan Constantine Green was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Affectionately known as "Brother Joe", by his 15 siblings, he was born March 2, 1935, in Clarendon, Jamaica to the late Leonard Green and Clementina Beech. His siblings were Ronald, Shirley, Emelius, Hortense, Rose, Jean, Jasper, Murdeline, Yvonne, Eileen, Alma, Vibert, Junior, Carlton and Layton. He was raised by his parents and Aunt Nita and attended Four Paths Elementary school in Clarendon. He learned to become a tailor under the apprenticeship of a well-known tailor in his District. Shortly after Lercan was able to establish his own business and build a small home in Clarendon. He then ventured out to explore other opportunities by migrating to England and eventually to the United States to pursue his craft. He settled in Brooklyn where he eventually met Angela Green, his loving wife of 46 years.
The couple met in the 70's when Lercan attend meetings in the home of the Pinnock’s in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Pinnock would invite people over to share the word of God. Several people would meet on Sundays for worship service and Wednesday night bible study. Lercan and Angela would often stay for dinner with others to share thoughts about the bible and recent readings. Eventually he asked Angela to visit Roosevelt Island and enjoy the view, the rest is history.
Lercan and Angela wed in 1976 and moved to East 45th Street in Brooklyn NY. He worked in the health care field.The couple had three children, David, Steven, and Crystal Green. He and the family relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1988 in the hopes of providing a better life for their family. In Florida, Lercan played a pivotal role, working overnight shifts and returning home early morning to cook breakfast for the children before they went to school. He could often be found gardening, planting seeds from fruits and vegetables he loved, and creating a safe place for his children to play. He was an exemplary employee throughout his career and earned many words of accommodation.
His siblings say that Brother Joe was an excellent brother who set a great example of Christian values. He often looked out for family and strangers without expecting anything in return. He was disciplined, principled and always able to provide sage advice
Lercan would often be found sitting and reading the bible. He maintained his life as a humble person always with his eyes on Jesus Christ. In his latter years, he continued to strengthen his relationship with God by reading the bible and discussing scriptures. In his bible study he encouraged all to look at Jesus as the author and finisher of their faith.
He is survived by his wife Angela Beverly, children, David, Steven, Crystal, stepdaughter Patricia; grandchildren Chani, David Jr, Trinity, Isreal, Ikeem and a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, friend and family too numerous to mention.
