Kent Duane Parkins passed away unexpectedly at home on August 22, 2021 with his wife, Melody and their many rescued dogs, at his side. Kent was born on December 13, 1966 in Peoria, Illinois to Ronald Parkins and Nancy (Carson) Bellaire. After completing his BS BA degree in Finance and Quantitative Analysis at Western Illinois University in 1989, Kent moved to Tulsa, OKlahoma to pursue his career. Over the years, he continued to perfect his profession, authoring 6 patents and working with well-known corporations and health systems across the country including St. John Health System in Tulsa.
Kent had an upbeat, positive outlook with an incredibly funny sense of humor that was unmatched, keeping friends and family laughing and making new friends everywhere he went. He loved people and had a big heart - helping almost anyone, with many witnessing Kent giving homeless or needy people money, rides, and even clothing, etc. He loved animals and worked several years advocating for neglected, abused and abandoned dogs and even helped transport many, many dogs to rescues in Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota.
Kent was an avid musician - playing piano/organ, trumpet and guitar- even playing backup for a few well-known singers as well as co-wrote a children's song. He loved all music and in prior years had worked on his off time as Security for many, many local concerts as well as the Blues Festivals in Eureka Springs.
Kent was an all round great athlete, a weight lifter starting in college which he continued after college setting many world records until he retired in the late 1990's but continued training other weight lifters. He also played semi-pro arena football for the Tulsa Twisters in the 1990's as well as semi-pro softball for Worth, raced dirt bikes, loved sailing, fishing and riding his Harley.
Kent was a loving husband, father, brother and son. Although he was only on this earth for a short time, he will be remembered every day by his friends and family. Kent is survived by his wife, Melody of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his daughter, Corinne Onigbinde and son-in-law of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two stepsons, Justin of Austin, Texas and Sean of Denver, Colorado; 6 grandchildren; brother, Todd Parkins of Gulf Breeze, Florida; sister, Beth Angel of Orlando, Florida; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Preston Bellaire of Longwood, Florida; and many aunts and uncles.
