John was born in Chesnee, SC. He graduated from Chesnee High School and attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas studying accounting.He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He started his businesses, Grovigation and Utilicon, in the late 1960s and was the premiere citrus grove irrigator in the state. John also served on various bank boards in Orlando. Later he continued his career as a private mortgage lender. John was active in youth sports coaching Optimist football and little league. He loved to play tennis, water ski, snow ski and hike especially at their home in Highlands, NC.
John is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Hullett; his children Donna Danks, Michael Hullett, Stephanie Cathcart, Gengie Nail, Susie Lott, Amy Johnson, Kristin Wright; siblings Marie Blackwell, Kate Hullett and Donald Hullett; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents John Lloyd Hullett and Leatha Kimbrell Hullett, daughter Ashleigh Johnson, sisters Lillian Lawter, Correll Bonner, Patricia Sherrell, Dot Henderson and Lorie Waters.

A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, Florida 34734.
