Jack D Summers, born July 15, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, MO, died peacefully at home on May 10, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. Jack is survived by his spouse of 51 years, Kay M Summers, his daughter Shea Bates, son-in-law Adam Bates, grandchildren Shelby Summers, Sidney Summers, Jackson Bates, Wrigley Bates and Harper Bates and preceded by death by his son William Chad Summers.
Jack was an Army Veteran serving in Korea during the Pueblo crisis and returned home and married Kay in 1968. He had a successful career in the real estate and Banking/Finance industry serving as Vice President Regional Sales Manager for Savings of America and retired from the industry in December 2009. He had a passion for history and instilled a love of and value for history to his grandchildren. He loved working with his hands and built beautiful pieces of furniture for his family in his retirement. He loved golfing and would spend many afternoons on the greens of many local courses. He was a follower of Christ and spent many of his days sharing the gospel in hopes of bringing many to the kingdom. He was active in his church, Christ Community Church, serving in various roles.
Jack was a loving husband, proud father and an amazing Grandpa. He was a caring, wonderful friend and neighbor and could light up a room with his charm and kindness.
A private, intimate burial will take place on Sunday, May 24th and a Celebration of Life open to all will be held at Christ Community Church on June 28th at 2pm.
