Helen “Joyce” Hall , age 89, flew away from us to land peacefully in the hands of her lord and savior on Saturday, April 4th, 2015. Helen was born in St .Petersburg, FL January 15, 1926 and was the youngest daughter of Frances Didema Hughes and Aubrey Lee Thomason . She was preceded in death by a single sibling , Katheryn Delores Thomason and was one of only 3 remaining cousins on her fathers side: Ralph Carl Thomason of Atlanta , GA and Wilmer Gaston of Cincinnati, Ohio.
A retired nurse, among many other things, Joyce delighted in spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, sewing, motor cycle riding and always loved to dance..She also had what it takes to tell a story and keep us engrossed in it. Mostly they were true stories from her youth but they were fascinating to us! She excelled at anything she was interested in and was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well. Many of her children and grandchildren also excelled in the same things with a few in medical professions also.
Her first marriage to Thomas L Welfley produced 4 children. Diana Kay Welfley, Thomas Lee Welfley Jr, Ellen Joyce Welfley, and Joan Frances Welfley. What a romance it was! A happy family until 1972 when Thomas Welfley JR passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50 . Shortly after her two youngest children were off living their own lives taking her from a family of 4 to being alone. Not being one to rest on her laurels she stepped up her game and went to nursing school along with her sister-in-law Madolyn Welfley Winters. She continued to work at FL Hospital until she retired some 15 years later.
Not long after nursing school ,“Boots”,as she was called by more than a few met Russel ”Bud” Hall and they began to date. They married after a short courtship and were together for 30 years, This was nice for all as it brought more people in to the family. Russel had a son, Russel JR and he had a son, named Richard and a daughter named Cheryl who fit right in the family. Life was good again for a time but unfortunately Helen was widowed again by Bud , who passed away from cancer. She found her strength again and with the help of a loving family was able to find herself again.
She is survived by two of her children, Ellen Joyce Welfley of Michigan, and Joan Frances Loveland of Rockledge, FL and leaves a long legacy of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a single great-great grandchild.
