Gary LaRochelle Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend passed away at the age of 72 on May 28, 2024. He was born on September 8, 1951, in Port au Prince, Haiti to the late Andre Sr. and Carnie LaRochelle. As a child, Gary was highly intelligent, and schooling came easy to him-he was always at the top of his class. Gary emigrated to Brooklyn, NY with his family in 1968 at the age of 17. He attended and graduated from John Jay High School and later St. Francis College. He married his longtime sweetheart Carole, with whom he raised three children. Gary dedicated his early career to the telecommunications industry serving as a technician at Nynex (now Verizon) for 25 years. He later found success in the real estate industry as a Mortgage Broker.
Outside of his professional life, Gary had a passion for the game of Golf. He could often be found on the green, enjoying the camaraderie of friends and the beauty of the game. His skill on the golf course was matched only by his infectious laughter and jovial spirit. He also loved to travel with his wife and family. He found such a joy in experiencing new places and cultures and meeting people from different walks of life.
Those who knew Gary remember him as a man who could light up any room with his presence. His friendly demeanor, happy disposition, and quick wit endeared him to everyone he met. He had a knack for bringing joy to others with his great sense of humor, well-timed jokes, and comforting smile. Gary also loved a challenge and had an immense love for learning anything new.
Gary is survived by his wife, Carole; his children, Joanne (Zamir), Gary Jr. (Farrah) and Valerie (Tyrone Jr.); his grandchildren, Chloe, Gary III, Keanne, Lyric, Amir, and London; his great grandchild Kamryn; and his siblings Eddie, Rachel, and Ronald. He is preceded in death by his brothers Alix, Maxime, and Andre Jr. He is also survived by the Dubois Family, Egalite Family, Jourdan Family and Content Family, along with a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
Though Gary may no longer be with us in the physical sense, the impact he made on our lives will forever remain. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and friendship that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
