He was born on March 7, 1932 in Orange, N.J. to Herman and Angelina (D’Amico) Perrotti.
Fred was a 1950 graduate of Orange High School. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on May 20, 1955 holding the rank of Sargeant.
In 1962, Fred married the love of his life, Jacqueline DeMaio, at our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. After settling in Montclair, they had 3 sons; John, James, and Robert.
Early in his career, Fred held several sales positions within the auto industry. He then purchased The Grove Sweet Shop, where he spent most of his time making sodas, sundaes, and lunches for his customers. “Uncle Fred” treated everyone like family, especially the neighborhood children who would get a free ice cream cone for a good report card.
He was heavily involved in local politics in Essex County, N.J., holding numerous positions within the Republican party.
After selling the store, he became involved in the Wholesale Electronics industry, eventually moving to Orlando, Florida with his family and opening his own business, PACE Electronics.
He retired in 1996 to enjoy time with his family and friends. Fred was an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time at the beach with his dog Cindy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jacqueline; his sons John and wife Sondra, James, Robert and his wife Michelle, four grandchildren Danielle, Vincent and his wife Samantha, Ashley, and Brandon, his faithful dog Cindy, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Angelina, and his two brothers Frank and Herman Jr.
