Diane was a homemaker who traveled the world as a United States Air Force officer's wife. Married at 18, she supported her husband, Frank, with quiet grace through innumerable military events and functions. Diane was the backbone of the family, never more clearly demonstrated than during the time Frank was stationed in Southeast Asia for 13 months at the height of the Vietnam war.
The life of a military family is nomadic in nature, but with grace and a steady hand, she provided her four children with the security of a loving home 11 times in 27 years. Diane was an avid reader of biographies, health and nutrition publications and, for relaxation, cookbooks. She was an excellent cook, renowned for her "Yankee" pot roast and blueberry torte. With four active children, Diane was their biggest supporter, attending countless sporting events, school programs and after-school activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Podlesnik (retired USAF), her parents, Joseph and Marie Schmitt of Pittsburgh, PA, and her brother, Paul Schmitt.
Diane is survived by her children, Janice Bernacki (David), Joyce McCall (Mark), John Podlesnik, and Scott Podlesnik; granddaughters, Madison Bernacki and Lauren Shepard; and partner, Benjamin Kraljev.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida.
