In the early 1930s, Betty relocated to Orlando, where she worked at a fruit stand adjacent to the machine shop of the old Correct Craft boat manufacturing facility on Orange Avenue in Pine Castle. It was there that she met Ralph C. Meloon Sr. The couple married on May 06, 1938, and enjoyed an extraordinary 80 years together.
Betty dedicated several years to working the switchboard and taking meeting minutes at Correct Craft before embracing her role as a full-time homemaker, nurturing their children.
Throughout nearly 75 years, she traveled extensively across the United States and visited over 86 countries with Ralph and their family, creating countless cherished memories and stories, and supporting her husband’s passion for building boats to the glory of God, and sharing the gospel of Jesus.
Betty is survived by her three children: Marion L. Abel, Ralph C. Meloon Jr., and Kenneth D. Meloon; as well as nine grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 5218 Chiswick Circle, Orlando, Florida 32812 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
