William Spencer Neal

William (Bill) Spencer Neal, 68, of Buckeye, passed away October 22, 2012 at home.  He was born May 12, 1944 in Evanston, Illinois to Harriet Kitterman Neal and Julian Spencer Neal.  Bill attended Evanston Township High School in Evanston Illinois and graduated from City College in Baltimore, MD.  He earned a BA in Economics from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC in 1966.  Then in 1968, he married his wife, Nancy, in Baltimore, MD.  He had a 20 year career in Surety/Fidelity and Surety/Bonding with Fidelity and Deposit Co. of Maryland; and he had a 10 year career with Old Republic Surety Co in Brookfield, WI. Bill retired to Daufuskie Island, SC in 2006.  He persevered through a 7 year courageous journey with cancer and served on the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Patient Advisory Committee from 2009-2011.  The family is especially grateful to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America for their exceptional integrated medical care and provision for quality of life to body, mind, and soul and to Grace Hospice of Arizona with a special thanks to Barbara Taylor, RN.  Bill is survived by his wife Nancy Davidson Neal; son Spencer Douglas Neal (Rachel); daughter Lindsay Neal VanDellen (Matthew); 5 grandchildren Jackson, Lauren, and Cameron Neal, Victoria and Andrew VanDellan; sister Judith Neal Mellinger (James); and nephew Douglas Neal Mellinger. 

A Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, November 12th at the “Celebration of Life Garden” located at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, 14200 W.
