Kent was born June 6, 1946 in Tucson, AZ to Kenneth and Genevieve Vermillion. He graduated from Amphi High School in Tucson and went on to study at Eastern Arizona University. In 1966, Kent joined the United States Marine Corps. His journey with the Marines led him to Vietnam where he bravely served his Country alongside friends and fellow Marines. Kent was fortunate enough to return home to his family.
After his tour of duty, Kent remained in Tucson working as a Union Surveyor with Local 428. He worked at various copper mines and construction companies throughout Southern Arizona. Kent met the love of his life through mutual friends in 1976.
Kent and Candy were married on June 17, 1978 and moved to Buckeye the same year. They raised their family in the small farming community west of Phoenix, while both were employed at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. Four years ago, they found the house they had always dreamed of and moved to Litchfield Park.
Kent will be remembered by his family as always being kind, humorous, easy going, genuine, and courageous. He handled every situation with dignity and integrity. Kent was a devoted Christian, dedicated husband, and very loving father. He enjoyed the simple things in life. A few of his favorite things were listening to Country, Bluegrass, and Rock & Roll, watching college and professional sports, hanging out with friends and family, and being on the beach in San Diego.
Kent treated everyone with kindness, respect, and compassion. He was truly one of a kind and an inspiration to many, especially his family.
