Our beloved Roy Edward “Bud” Cunningham Jr., 83, passed away peacefully in the afternoon of March 25, 2011. There are no words to express how much he will be missed. Roy was born on February 15, 1928 in Hudson, New York to Roy Edward and Ruth Gladys Cunningham. Roy served in the United States Navy during World War II and served as a coxswain (driver on a Landing Craft Personnel Vehicle) in combat. After the war he attended Sienna College and soon moved to Puerto Rico to work for Brown & Root and then Bechtel Corporation from which he retired from in 1986. Roy’s career enabled him to travel around the world to live in and visit many places including Louisiana, Texas, New York, Puerto Rico, Korea, England, Spain, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Canada and finally settling in Arizona. His work was his passion and he served as a great example of hard work, dedication and integrity to co-workers, family and friends. After retiring he was actively involved at St. Thomas Aquinas Church where he was involved in several ministries for many years. He is survived by his wife Ada Fe of 46 years, twin daughters Vanessa and Ruth, son Edward, son-in-law James, grandchildren Brianna and Cameron, brother Robert of Valatie, New York, niece Cynthia, nephew Robert also of Valatie, New York and daily companion in mischief, his dog Skippy. Services will be held on Friday, April1st at St Thomas Aquinas Church in Avondale with reception to follow. Please call the church at 623-935-2151 for service times and location of reception. Roy will be greatly missed, but his legacy of family, love, sense of humor, honesty, friendship and determination will always be remembered.
