Robert grew up on the family farm in Peterson, Minnesota where he graduated from Peterson High School. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the Army and later the reserves. After completing his time in the Military he returned to the family farm where he worked with his brother Richard. He married Betty Gueltzow in June of 1966. In 1979, Robert moved to Rushford, where he continued some work on the farm as well as factory work in Rushford. In 2005 he relocated to Avondale, Arizona to spend time with his daughter.
Robert mostly enjoyed a quiet life spending time with family and friends. While in Arizona he enjoyed weekend getaways throughout Arizona, California, and Nevada. He loved caring for the three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Bentley, Bosley and Bella. Robert also loved attending and watching sporting events of all kinds. His favorite teams were the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves, the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Suns.
He loved the Arizona weather, going for walks in the neighborhood and being outside doing yardwork. He also enjoyed shopping and fine dining, Robert loved a great filet mignon.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Lisa Boyum, his sister Lucille Sharrow, and his brother, Roger Boyum. He is preceded in death by his parents Bennie and Mildred Boyum, his wife, Betty Boyum, his brother, Richard Boyum and his sister Doris Fox.
