Rito R. Cabrera Sr., 83, of Avondale passed December 7, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 11, 1928 in Karnes City, TX to Manuel and Alvina Cabrera. When he was 9 years old the family moved to Arizona. Rito was drafted and served proudly during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. When he returned to Arizona he married the love of his life Virginia Borunda on December 27, 1954. He was a hardworking man and a good provider, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Goodyear. He worked in the fields in California and Arizona as a young man. He retired from Sunland Beef where he was the head of the rendering department. After a long day of hard work he was most content to sit at home in his chair with the bustle of activity four sons will bring, especially over the years when you add grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. His constant companion was his dog who would always be in his lap when relaxing at the end of day.
Rito is survived by his wife Virginia B. Cabrera; his sons Rito Jr., Jose Manuel, Gregory B., and Freddy Cabrera; his sisters Nicolasa Gonzalez of Cashion, AZ and Julia Gonsalvez of Choctaw, OK; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
