Richard Phillip Chaboya, age 28, of Tonopah, AZ died March 20, 2019 in Surprise, AZ after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 14, 1990 in Carmichael, CA to Phillip and Pauline Chaboya. He grew up in Yuba City, CA and graduated from Yuba City High School where he was also a member of the football team. Richard served in the US Marine Corps from 2010 – 2014.
Stubborn and independent, Richard lived his life on his terms. He had a positive attitude and loved to joke around. It was nearly impossible to take a picture of him without him making a crazy face. He was very intelligent and would often reassure everyone with, “I got this!” He learned to ride a motorcycle by watching YouTube and loved to go on long drives, often topping 100 mph on the freeway.
Richard was a great father and husband. He was patient and understanding and would do anything for his family. He was brave and strong and made time to play with his children, no matter how sick he felt. His love for his children and his wife gave him the reason and the strength to continue to fight. As he would often say, “My story – my life – no regrets!”
Richard is survived by his wife, Jackie Chaboya; daughters, Nayeli and Natalie Chaboya; son, Uriah Chaboya; parents, Phillip & Pauline Chaboya; sisters, Alina (Daniel) Meneses, AJ Chaboya; and brother, Anthony (Erica) Chaboya.
A visitation will be at 4:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338.
