Bettie was a graduate of Washington State University and taught school in Grandview, WA. She was actively involved with the development of the Head Start Program in Sunnyside, WA. She also worked and volunteered with Lower Valley Hospice.
Bettie was a resident of Sunnyside, WA for more than 50 years and was an active member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her son Scott Laws, daughters-in-law, Lorie and Joan Laws, twenty grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Genevieve Gaffney, first husband Richard Laws, second husband Frank Filicetti and son Richard Laws.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 904 S 6th St, Sunnyside, WA 98944. Burial will follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, 7800 Van Belle Rd, Sunnyside, WA 98944. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be given to Lower Valley Hospice/Heartlink Hospice, 3920 Outlook Rd, Sunnyside, WA 98944.
