Everett David Ortiz

Everett “David” Ortiz Sr., 60, of Cashion, AZ passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 1, 2011.  He was born April 27, 1951 in San Jose, CA to Evaristo Valentine and Guadalupe “Lupe” Romero Ortiz.  When he was 10 years old he moved with his mother and sisters and brother to Arizona after his father passed away in 1961.  Here, he attended Agua Fria High School in Avondale.  After completing high school he moved back to San Jose, CA to start his family.  Five years later he was drawn back to Arizona.  He was currently employed with Waste Management in the south west valley.  David was a born again Christian.

David is survived by his daughter Erika Diane Rodriguez and her husband Calixto Rodriguez of Watsonville, CA, his grandson Adan David Ortiz, his mother Lupe and step-dad Jesus Gonzales of Cashion, AZ, his sisters Helen Silva, Irene Escobar, Dorothy Ramirez, and Yolanda Ortiz, and his brother Domingo Ortiz.  He was preceded in death by his father Evaristo Valentine Ortiz in 1961 and his son Everett David Ortiz Jr. in 1995.

Visitation for David will be Monday, December 5th from 6-9pm at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ.  His service will be Tuesday December 6th also at Thompson Funeral Chapel, at 10am, with burial to follow at West Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, AZ.  Memorials may be made in David’s honor to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate.
